Installation of Large Sculptures
All the large sculptures are stable and most are secure even in normally heavy winds without being bolted down. If a sculpture has special installation requirements, it will be included in the description.
The bases of all the large sculptures have provision for bolting the sculpture to a plinth or the ground. We recommend bolting the sculpture in the event of severe winds and to protect against theft.
Placement: A large sculpture needs to be placed on a level, compacted or engineered surface – for example compacted soil, concrete, or timbers. All are stable and most are secure without being bolted down. If bolting is required, it will say so in the description. However, bolting to a concrete or wood surface is advised. Alternatively, 3/8” or 1/2” threaded rod can be driven into compacted soil at least 2ft but preferably to a point below frost line.
Moving & Placing: Life-size and larger sculpture require 2 to 3 strong adults and/or equipment for final placement. The large steel sculptures each weigh 200 to 300 pounds. The large wood sculptures are less than 75 pounds but are awkward to manage. All of the large sculptures also have unequal weight distribution which makes moving them with equipment such as hand-carts or fork lifts challenging.
