The Goddess Ashante
Large Welded Steel Sculpture
96” H x 56” W x 32” D
Available from Tiny Taiga, Santa Fe
This is a depiction of the Goddess Ashanei – the Ghanian goddess of spring, dawn and renewal. She’s part of the “I Can Soar” series which celebrates the “bad-ass” goddesses among us.
She’s 8ft tall and is composed of rhythmic panels of steel – the curve of the skirt evoking renewal and bursting forth. She is reaching for the sky – gathering energy from herself and from the heavens.
She is constructed of welded weathering Steel. Weathering steel will develop a burnt-orange patina and then stop rusting. You can see a companion sculpture that reached it’s final color in the first photo. She’ll be stable in the landscape for decades without need for maintenance. Weathering steel was developed for bridge building.
