Copper-Clad Stainless Steel
34” x 22” x 22”
A ballerina in an arabesque – slightly off-balance – as she comes down from a leap and prepares to take the next step. The nature of the verdigris patina on the copper creates a color-shift depending on the angle viewed and the direction and type of lighting. This is evident from the images.
This dancer is part of my Granularity series which explores the female dancer’s body in more detail. The direction and spacing of intersecting planes of copper are used to emphasize the musculature and rhythm that create the motion. The figure is tabletop size – 34” tall. It is compsed of intersecting planes of copper-clad stainless steel. The base is black granite. The piece is fully weatherproof – if you wish to locate them on your patio. If outside, the copper will continue to patina.
