Take Me As I Am
Marine Plywood
Wall-Mounted Sculpture
66” x 42” x 22”
Part of the Momentum Series
This dynamic piece will dominate the space it’s in. It will be a true conversation piece — stimulating discussion and involvement. It’s part of the "Momentum" series which celebrates everyday super women. This piece is based on the women's anthem "Take Me As I Am" by Mary J. Blige. It is both figurative and abstract depicting a woman dancing to a R&B tune. The piece is made of marine-grade Douglas Fir. The piece is meant to be indoors only. It is a wall-mounted piece -- not freestanding. Contemporary, Modern, Abstract Figurative, Dancer, Dancing, Motion.
Creation was an intensive 3-month effort. It started with sculpting a 24" tall wax model -- which I was then digitized and manipulated digitally to capture the "geometry" of the motion. Machine files were then created to guide a computerized routing machine -- a cnc machine. All the pieces -- carved and flat -- were then assembled and finished. The assembly and finishing took 2/3 of the effort.
