Part of the Dance Party Series, this piece reflects the energy of the 1950's swing era. It's a dancer doing the swing or jitterbug. Made of corten steel, the piece will develop an orange-rust patina and then stop rusting. (Corten steel was developed for bridge building). The figure is a bit larger than life-size.

The work started with a 24" tall wax model sculpted by hand. It was then digitized and manipulated digitally to get the lines that would reinforce the dance movement. It is welded. The entire process took several months.

The piece is a contemporary abstraction of the dancer form. The slats of steel reinforce the movement of the dancer. The piece will add a dynamic element to an outdoor patio or garden.
